FAQ-Dust Particle Counter

FAQ-Dust Particle Counter

2022-04-15

1 what is a dust particle counter?

The dust particle counter extracts the sampling gas through the sampling pump. In the laser room, the sampling gas is irradiated by the laser. The flash frequency reflected by the particles represents the number of particles, the reflected light intensity, and the particle size. The components in the laser room are not protected by sheath gas.

Online particle counting is based on the principle of laser scattering. It adopts industrial grade long-life high-temperature resistant linear laser and vehicle scale large flow turbine fan, which can display 0.3 stably, reliably and accurately μ The number of particles above M can remotely monitor the change of dust concentration in the working environment.

2 what is the working principle of the dust particle counter?

Particles in the air will scatter under the irradiation of light. This phenomenon is called light scattering. Light scattering is related to particle size, light wavelength, particle refractive index and light absorption characteristics of particles. However, in terms of scattered light intensity and particle size, there is a basic law that the intensity of scattered light increases with the increase of particle surface area. In this way, the size of particles can be deduced by measuring the intensity of scattered light, which is the basic principle of light scattering particle counter.

3 how is the dust particle counter used?

A constant velocity sampling head is connected with the sampling port through a hose. The constant velocity sampling head is helpful to reduce the counting error of small particle sampling and should be used in each measurement. When sampling typical indoor and outdoor aerosol particles, the isokinetic sampling head should always face upward. The instrument can be held in hand or placed on a plane or tripod, and the LCD screen faces the operator.

In places where constant air flow is sampled, such as clean room, air duct, downstream of filter, etc., the air flow direction is always aligned with the opening of constant velocity sampling head.

The hose connecting the isokinetic sampling head and the sampling port can be extended if necessary. However, a longer length will increase the burden of the sampling pump, reduce the air flow rate and cause the premature failure of the sampling pump. It will also cause counting loss, especially the increase of counting loss of large particles. It is recommended to shorten the hose length as much as possible, and its length should not exceed 4 feet.

The sampling height will also affect the reading, and the reading near the floor may be several times higher than the reading at the sight height. When using the dust particle counter to analyze the problem of pollution, it should be noted that whether all pollution is continuous, and some are the result of transient events or one particle. Multiple sampling in the same place is necessary to determine the pollution source.
