Why are clean rooms equipped with Pass Box?
Pass Box are devices used for transferring items in clean rooms, laboratories and other environments. They must strictly follow the operating procedures to keep the environment clean.
The process of transmission
1. Transfer from the non-clean area to the clean area
Open the side door of the non-clean area, put in the items and close the door → Turn on the ultraviolet lamp for at least 30 minutes (adjust the time according to the type of items) → Open the side door of the clean area to take out the items → close the door.

2. Open the side door of the clean area, place the items inside, and then close the door → No ultraviolet radiation is needed (to prevent the spread of contamination) → directly take out the items from the side door of the non-clean area.
Bidirectional transmission window: The "unidirectional flow principle" must be followed. Simultaneous bidirectional transmission is prohibited to prevent cross-contamination.
3. Special scene processing
Transfer of volatile/corrosive substances: They should be stored in sealed containers and placed on corrosion-resistant trays at the bottom of the transfer window. Clean immediately after transfer.
Biological sample/experimental animal transfer: It is necessary to confirm the biosafety level of the transfer window in advance (such as using a transfer window with disinfection function in a BSL-2 laboratory), and thoroughly disinfect the room after the transfer.
- Cleaning and disinfection
After each transmission, wipe the inner cavity and door handle with disinfectant wipes. If there is any spread of contaminated items, the exposure time of ultraviolet lamps should be increased (≥60 minutes).
Thoroughly clean the transfer window every week: Wipe the inner wall with a neutral cleaner to remove dust and stains. If necessary, rinse with pure water and dry.
- Equipment maintenance
Regularly check the lifespan of ultraviolet lamps (typically with a cumulative usage time of no more than 2000 hours), and replace faulty lamps in a timely manner.
The transmission window with air shower function needs to clean the first-level filter (once a week) and the high-efficiency filter (inspected once a year, and replaced when the resistance exceeds the standard) regularly.
Test the door lock function and alarm system (if any) every month to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
- Emergency management
If a fault is found in the interlock of the transmission window and door, its use should be stopped immediately, a "Fault" sign should be hung, and the maintenance personnel should be contacted.
If there is any overflow or leakage of items during the transportation process, the doors on both sides should be closed immediately, and the contaminated area should be locally disinfected (such as covered with sodium hypochlorite solution for 30 minutes), and then cleaned up according to the waste treatment process.
