PHARMA: Precautions for the use of tablet presses

In the previous article, the PHARMA tablet press manufacturer introduced some precautions for using a rotary tablet press. In addition to the points mentioned in the previous article, the following points are also very important.

1. Do not use non-drying raw materials in the tablet press as this will cause the powder to stick to the surface of the punch

2. If there is a jump or stagnation during the operation of the tablet press, please do not hold it by hand to avoid accidents.

3. Start the motor before driving. After running normally, start the clutch.

4. If it is found that the tablet press has abnormal vibration or abnormal noise during use, it should be stopped immediately for inspection.

5. Do not use too much medium pressure. Usually measured by the load on the motor. A 380-volt motor typically draws no more than 4 amps for heavy duty.

6. Increased variance in tablet weight. During the process of adding tablets, the difference in weight cannot exceed the limits set by the Pharmacopoeia. However, an increase in tablet weight is often observed during tablet compression on a tablet press. The reasons and solutions are as follows:

(1) Due to the uneven length of the punch, it is easy to cause the difference in tablet weight. So before using the tablet press, check each punch with a caliper before going through it. If reduced alone, the undershoot may fail, resulting in a relatively small number of particles. Others are less, and individual undershoots should be checked to remove snags.

(2) If the height of the feed hopper is incorrect, it may cause the pellets in one feed hopper to fall quickly and accumulate a lot of pellets on the feeder, while the pellets in the other feed hopper are slower, There are very few particles that are packed, which can cause an imbalance when adding particles to the die holes. The position of the hopper can be adjusted so that the number of particles in the two hoppers remains a certain number and the falling speed is equal. The pellets piled up on the two feeders are similar, and these pellets can be added evenly into the die holes.

(3) Due to the weight change caused by the granules, the granules are too wet, the fine powder is too much, the thickness difference of the granules is too large, or the lack of lubricant in the granules will also cause the change of the tablet weight difference, and the quality of the granules should be improved.

(4) The reason for the change in tablet weight is usually caused by the failure or negligence of the tablet press. Therefore, during the tableting process, parts maintenance should be carried out, and parts should be checked for damage. And weigh the tablet at a certain time interval (10-20 minutes), and whether the weight of the tablet meets the requirements.
