The Difference And Function Of AHU,FFU And Hepa Filter In Air Conditioning System


With the gradual increase in the demand for clean rooms in all walks of life, the cleanliness requirements of clean rooms are different, so the air conditioning systems are also different. I will take you to understand the difference between AHU, FFU, and Hepa Filter.


1. AHU(Air Handle Unit)

Air Handle Unit: Mainly extract indoor air (return air) and part of the fresh air to control the outlet air temperature and air volume and maintain the indoor temperature.


The combined Air Handle Unit is a unit formed by installing air filters, surface coolers, heaters, humidifiers and other air treatment components in a vertical/horizontal cabinet. Generally, they are used for both heating and cooling, and has done a good job in temperature and humidity adjustment. It can design a combined Air Handle Unit suitable for various places according to the requirements of various working conditions on the spot. 2. FFU(Fan Filter Units)

FFU is an equipment that combined by the fan and filter, it's a self-powered terminal purification equipment. To be precise, it is a modularized terminal air supply device with self-powered and filtering function. The fan sucks in the air from the top of the FFU and filters it by HEPA. The filtered clean air is sent out evenly at a wind speed of 0.45m/s±20% on the entire air outlet surface.


The FFU is a ceiling unit equipped with a fan, used in turbulent and laminar flow clean rooms. The unit is designed to be flexible as a whole. According to the design specifications, it can easily match any ceiling frame to achieve various cleanliness levels. The FFU is one of the quietest and most popular units on the clean equipment market. With this unit, high-quality air can be delivered to the clean room. Moreover, it is suitable for semiconductor, electronics, flat panel display and disk drive manufacturers, optics, biological industries and other industries to be used in clean rooms, clean production lines, etc. it's advantages are low energy consumption and lower operating costs.



3.HEPA Filter

HEPA is a type of pleated mechanical air filter. It is an acronym for "high efficiency particulate air [filter]" . A filter that meets the HEPA standard has an effective efficiency of 99.998% for 0.1 micron and 0.3 micron. The characteristic of the HEPA filter is that the air can pass through, but the fine particles cannot pass. It has a removal efficiency of more than 99.7% for particles with a diameter of 0.3 microns (hair diameter 1/200) or more. It is the most effective filter medium for pollutants such as smoke, dust, and bacteria. (The diameter of smoke particles produced by smoking is 0.5 microns) It is an internationally recognized high-efficiency filter material. It has been widely used in high-clean places such as operating rooms, animal laboratories, crystal experiments and aviation.
