The air filter shall be configured according to the different performance requirements of different occasions, which depends on the selection of primary efficiency, medium efficiency and high efficiency air filters.

There are four main characteristic indexes for the air filter:

1. air filtration speed

2. air filtration efficiency

3. air filter resistance

4. dust holding capacity of air filter

 

Therefore, these four performance parameters should also be referred to when selecting the primary/intermediate/high efficiency air filter.

① Select the filter with large filtering area. The larger the filtering area, the lower the filtering speed, and the smaller the filter resistance. Under specific filter structure conditions, the rated air volume of the filter reflects the filter speed. Under the same cross-sectional area, the larger the allowable rated air volume is, the better. When operating below the rated air volume, the efficiency increases and the resistance decreases. At the same time, increasing the filter area is the most effective means to prolong the service life of the filter. Experience shows that for filters with the same structure and the same filter material. When the final resistance is determined, the filter area is increased by 50%, and the service life of the filter is extended by 70%~80%. However, the structure and site conditions of the filter shall be taken into account when considering increasing the filter area.

② Reasonably determine the efficiency of filters at all levels. During air conditioning design, the efficiency of the last filter shall be determined according to the actual requirements, and then the prefilter that plays a protective role shall be selected. It is necessary to properly match the efficiency of filters at all levels, and be good at using and configuring the respective optimal particle size ranges of coarse and medium efficiency filters. The selection of prefilter shall be determined by comprehensive consideration of factors such as service environment, spare parts cost, operation energy consumption and maintenance cost. The minimum counting and filtering efficiency of air filters with different efficiency levels for dust particles of different sizes, which usually refers to the efficiency of new filters without static electricity. At the same time, the configuration of comfort air conditioning filter should be different from that of purification air conditioning system, and different requirements should be put forward for the installation and leakage prevention of air filter.

③ The filter resistance mainly consists of filter material resistance and filter structure resistance. The filter dust resistance increases, and the filter will be scrapped when the resistance increases to a specified value. The final resistance is directly related to the service life of the filter, the variation range of the system air volume and the system energy consumption. Coarse fiber filter materials with a diameter greater than 10/tm are often used in low efficiency filters. The gap between fibers is large, and excessive resistance may blow away the dust on the filter, causing secondary pollution. At this time, the resistance will not increase, and the filtering efficiency is zero. Therefore, the final resistance value of filters below G4 shall be strictly limited.

④ The dust capacity of the filter is an indicator directly related to the service life. In the process of dust accumulation, the filter with low efficiency is more likely to show that the initial efficiency increases first and then decreases. Most filters used in general comfort central air conditioning systems are disposable, and they cannot be cleaned at all or are not worth cleaning from an economic point of view.
