Requirements for the Construction of a Clean Operating Room

A clean operating room refers to using air purification technology to reduce the total amount of microbial particles and particles in the air of the operating environment to the allowable level, and there are air purification measures and cleanliness level requirements for the operating room.

The clean operating room can be roughly divided into the following four levels: Level I super clean operating room (100), level II standard clean operating room (1000), level III general clean operating room (10,000), and level IV quasi-clean operating room (100,000).

According to the design layout, the operation department can be divided into three areas:

  • Unclean area

Offices, conference rooms, laboratories, waste rooms, reference rooms, changing rooms, lounges and waiting rooms, etc.

  • Quasi-clean area

Corridor leading to clean area, corridor outside operating room, instrument room, washing room, anesthesia recovery room, etc.

  • Clean area

Operating room, brush room, corridor in operating room, sterile articles room, drug room and anesthesia preparation room, etc.

Note: Buffer room must be set up between clean and unclean area, and transfer window should be set up for logistics.

Operating room construction requirements

1. The operation department should not be set on the first and top floors. The reason is that the first layer is easy to be polluted and interfered with; The vertical traffic pressure on the top floor is large, and it is not conducive to energy saving and leakage prevention.

2. The operation department should be near the elevator hall or surgical ward, with internal and external traffic areas; The passageway shall be wide enough to facilitate the passage of the bed car.

3. Set up shoe improvement areas, clothing distribution rooms, men's and women's changing rooms, bathrooms, etc. The total area of the dressing area for medical staff should not be less than 1 square meter per person according to the actual number of users, and the dressing room should not be less than 6 square meters.

5. Set up clean goods channel and storage room, sewage channel and decontamination center, office and living area for medical staff.

6. The operating room should avoid direct sunlight as much as possible and use artificial lighting as much as possible. The opening of the operating room should avoid the tuyere to reduce indoor air pollution.

7. When considering the overall construction of the operating room, the height of the general operating room is not less than 4.8 meters, and the ceiling elevation of the clean operating room is not less than 2.8 meters.
