How Use Class 100 Laminar Flow Hood Cleanroom Clean Bench

2023-04-28

A Class 100 laminar flow hood is a device that provides a sterile environment for handling sensitive materials.   It is also known as a cleanroom or a clean bench.   I will explain how to use a Class 100 laminar flow hood properly and safely.

A Class 100 laminar flow hood has a filter that removes 99.97% of particles that are 0.3 microns or larger from the air.   The filtered air is then blown horizontally or vertically over the work area, creating a laminar flow of air that prevents contamination from outside sources.   The work area is usually enclosed by transparent walls or curtains to further isolate it from the surrounding environment.

To use a Class 100 laminar flow hood, you need to follow these steps:

1.   Before entering the cleanroom, you need to wear appropriate protective clothing, such as a gown, gloves, mask, and hairnet.   You also need to remove any jewelry, makeup, or other items that could shed particles or bacteria.

2.   After entering the cleanroom, you need to sanitize your hands and gloves with alcohol or another disinfectant.   You also need to wipe down any tools or materials that you will use with sterile wipes.

3.   Place your tools and materials on the work surface of the laminar flow hood.   Make sure they are arranged in an orderly fashion and do not block the airflow.   Do not touch anything that is not inside the laminar flow hood.

4.   Perform your work carefully and efficiently, avoiding any unnecessary movements or disturbances that could disrupt the laminar flow of air.   Do not talk, cough, sneeze, or breathe over the work area.   Do not leave the laminar flow hood unattended.

5.   When you are done with your work, dispose of any waste materials in a biohazard bag or container.   Wipe down your tools and materials with sterile wipes and remove them from the laminar flow hood.   Sanitize your hands and gloves again before leaving the cleanroom.

6.   Turn off the laminar flow hood and close the curtains or doors if applicable.   Remove your protective clothing and dispose of it in a designated bin.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your work in a Class 100 laminar flow hood is done in a clean and safe manner.
