Common Sterilization Methods in Clean Rooms
(1) Ultraviolet Light Sterilization
Ultraviolet light sterilization is a common method, which destroys the DNA structure of microorganisms by emitting ultraviolet rays, thus achieving the purpose of sterilization. However, ultraviolet light sterilization has certain limitations, such as only being able to disinfect the area directly exposed to the light, with poor effect on blocked areas.
(2) Ozone Sterilization
Ozone has strong oxidizing properties and can quickly kill bacteria, viruses, and fungi, etc. Ozone sterilization has the characteristics of high efficiency and broad spectrum, and there is no residue after sterilization, which is friendly to the environment. However, ozone has certain stimulation to human body, and personnel should be evacuated during the sterilization process.
(3) Gas Sterilization
Gas sterilization agents include formaldehyde, ethylene oxide, peracetic acid, potassium permanganate, and lactic acid mixture, etc. These gas sterilization agents can penetrate into various items and spaces, killing microorganisms comprehensively. However, gas sterilization requires strict operation specifications and safety measures to prevent harm to human body and environment.
(4) Disinfectants
Common disinfectants include isopropyl alcohol (75%), ethanol (75%), glutaraldehyde, and Jielian, etc. These disinfectants can be directly wiped or sprayed on the surface of objects for local area disinfection. However, when using disinfectants, attention should be paid to the concentration and application method to avoid damage to the items or affecting the disinfection effect.
In addition, there are some new sterilization methods that are constantly developing and applied. For example, plasma sterilization technology uses the active particles in plasma to kill microorganisms, with the characteristics of high efficiency, rapidity, and no residue. There are also photocatalytic sterilization technologies, which sterilize through the strong oxidizing substances produced by the photocatalytic agent under light, with the advantage of energy saving and environmental protection.
