Managing Personnel in Clean Rooms for Optimal Performance

Personnel working in clean rooms should receive regular training on pollution control theory. They enter and exit the clean room through airlocks, air showers, and/or changing rooms, and they must wear specially designed clothing that wraps around the naturally occurring pollutants on their skin and body.

According to the classification or function of the clean room, the attire of the staff may only require simple protective clothing such as lab coats and headgear, or it may be fully wrapped with full body protection that does not expose any skin.

Clean clothing is used to prevent particles and/or microorganisms from being released from the wearer's body and contaminating the environment. Clean clothing itself must not release particles or fibers to prevent environmental pollution.

Clean protective equipment includes protective clothing, boots, shoes, aprons, beard covers, round hats, masks, workwear/lab coats, long robes, gloves and finger cots, sleeves and shoe/boot covers. The type of clean clothing used should reflect the cleanroom and product category. Low level cleanrooms may require special shoes with completely smooth soles that will not accumulate dust or dirt. However, for safety reasons, the sole of the shoe should not pose a risk of slipping. Entering a clean room usually requires wearing clean clothes. A 10000 level clean room can use simple lab coats, headgear, and shoe covers. For a Class 100 cleanroom, full body coverage is required, including zippered protective clothing, goggles, masks, gloves, and boot covers.

In addition, it is necessary to control the number of personnel in the clean room, with an average of 4-6m ²/person. The operation should be gentle and avoid large and rapid movements. At the same time, staff should maintain good personal hygiene habits in the clean room, wash hands frequently, do not wear makeup, do not wear jewelry, etc., to reduce the potential pollution they may cause. During the work process, it is necessary to strictly follow the operating procedures, avoid unnecessary contact and operation, and prevent damage to the clean environment. For personnel who work in clean rooms for a long time, regular health checks should also be conducted to ensure that their physical condition does not have a negative impact on the clean room environment.
