General Installation Requirements for Air Outlets

1. Manufacturing Requirements for Air Outlets

Air outlets shall be structurally sound and regular in shape, with flat decorative surfaces. Blades and diffuser rings shall be evenly arranged. All parts shall have uniform color without obvious scratches or dents. Adjustment mechanisms shall rotate smoothly and stay securely in position. The nominal size of an air outlet is defined by the outer diameter or outer side length of its neck.

2. General Installation Requirements for Air Outlets

The surface of installed air outlets shall be flat and free from deformation, with flexible and reliable adjustment functions. Identical air outlets in the same hall or room shall be installed at a uniform height and arranged neatly. For exposed air outlets without suspended ceilings:

• Permissible deviation for installation position and elevation: 10 mm
• Permissible horizontal deviation for horizontally mounted outlets: 3‰
• Permissible vertical deviation for vertically mounted outlets: 2‰

3. Installation Requirements for Exhaust Outlets and Suction Hoods/Cabinets

Exhaust outlets and suction hoods/cabinets shall be neatly arranged and firmly installed.

• Permissible deviation for installation position and elevation: ±10 mm
• Permissible horizontal deviation: 3‰, and shall not exceed 20 mm

4. Special Requirements for Different Types of Air Outlets

• Louver outlets: The central axes at both ends of louver blades shall be aligned in a straight line. Blades shall be flat and free from friction with the frame.
• Diffusers: The diffuser ring and adjusting ring shall be concentric, with uniform axial spacing between ring plates.
• Perforated panel outlets: Orifices shall be burr-free, with consistent aperture and uniform pitch, complying with design requirements.
• Rotary air outlets: Moving parts shall operate lightly and flexibly, and fit tightly with the fixed frame. The adjustable angle range of blades shall conform to the design.
• Spherical air outlets: The inner and outer spheres shall be properly fitted, rotating freely and remaining fixed without loosening after positioning.

5. Layout Requirements for Diffusers

Diffusers are preferably arranged symmetrically or in a quincunx pattern. The clear distance between the centerline of a diffuser and side walls shall be no less than 1.0 m. Floor-mounted diffusers shall not be installed directly underneath seats, with a minimum clearance of 400 mm from seats. A dust hopper is not mandatory for all floor diffusers, and its installation will not affect the airflow pattern.

6. Installation Requirements for Jet Nozzles

To ensure uniform supply air velocity, the duct for jet nozzles shall be designed as a variable cross-section duct or a constant cross-section duct acting as a static pressure box. For side jet nozzles of stratified air conditioning systems:

• Recommended mounting height above floor: 6 ~ 10 m
• When the span of the air-conditioned area exceeds 24 m, double-side air supply is recommended.
• For double-side jet supply, parallel air jets shall overlap mutually. The jet range is calculated as 90% of the distance between the midpoints of nozzles on both sides.

7. Installation Requirements for Linear Slot Outlets

An air volume regulating valve shall be installed on the duct at the inlet of the static pressure box to ensure even air distribution. Flexible ducts are recommended for connections between static pressure boxes and branch ducts to facilitate construction. The maximum supply air velocity of linear slot outlets is 2 ~ 4 m/s. The upper limit is applicable for outlets installed at high positions or areas where higher air velocity is acceptable.

8. Installation Requirements for Smoke Exhaust Outlets

Smoke exhaust outlets shall be installed on ceilings or walls close to ceilings.

• The minimum horizontal distance between a smoke exhaust outlet and the nearest adjacent edge of a safety exit along the walkway shall be no less than 1.5 m.
• For outlets mounted on ceilings: the distance to combustible components or materials shall be no less than 1.0 m.
• The maximum horizontal distance from a smoke exhaust outlet to the farthest point within its smoke control zone shall not exceed 30 m.

Smoke exhaust outlets shall remain closed under normal conditions and be equipped with manual and automatic opening devices that operate flexibly. Outlets shall be square and closely attached to decorative surfaces. The outlets and actuators shall be kept clean and tidy.
